The First in a Limited Edition Print Run of 250 (1 of 250)
From the latest Little Hedgehog series of books (book 13) that have sold over two million copies worldwide, Little Hedgehog and friends meet squirrel carrying Christmas snacks and presents for Grandpa squirrel.
When I first read the manuscript of ‘One Christmas Journey’ I quickly realised it had to have lots of snow and mountains. With an avalanche in the story it would have to be lots and lots of snow. Though if you don’t have a few trees it could rapidly look too much like Scot of the Antarctic. Next the text says Little Hedgehog and all his friends are out collecting holly and they meet squirrel. Squirrel is carrying lots of food and presents to Grandpa’s house, so we thought it would be fun to seem him struggle. Not seeing his entire face helps to emphasise just how much he is carrying, i.e. teetering on the edge of disaster. There must be a trail of food and presents all over the mountain!
