This is the final spread of “One Christmas Journey” where we wanted to show Little Hedgehog and friends finally back home warm cosy and safe after a big adventure. In true Little Hedgehog style dear Christina, the author, has them drinking hot chocolate and I can not resist adding in cupcakes. You will see lots of tea, cookies, hot chocolate and cake throughout the picture books series. Guess what we are obsessed with? Then, as Little Hedgehog’s hat was unravelled to help them get down the mountain, the characters get busy helping him make a new hat. Reminds me of my mother showing me how knit and me producing nothing but a big tangled knot. So with lots of colourful balls of wool, presents, a fully decorated tree, plates, cake, cups, cushions and seven characters I had to brace myself for three days of painting. Phew, exhausting and guess what I need to get through a picture like this, yup you guessed it, CAKE!
